What is Acrylic Solvent Bond?
Acrylic Solvent Bond is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) based on acrylic polymers dissolved in an organic solvent. The solvent evaporates during curing so that the resulting adhesive layer remains tacky and permanent.
This kind of solvent-acrylic PSA offers high bond strength, excellent resistance to moisture, chemical exposure, UV and temperature cycles, making it ideal for harsh or demanding industrial tape applications. Solvent acrylic PSAs are preferred where durability and environmental performance are required.
Uses and Properties of Acrylic Solvent Bond
- Formulated as an acrylic polymer solution in organic solvent (solvent-acrylic PSA).
- Strong adhesion to a range of backing materials: films (PET, polyimide etc.), foils (aluminium etc.), paper.
- High peel strength and good shear holding.
- Good temperature resistance – maintains adhesion over a range of elevated temperatures.
- Resistance to UV, moisture, solvents, and aging.
- Excellent clarity / colour stability (does not yellow much compared with some rubber adhesives).
- Can be formulated to bond well even to somewhat low surface energy substrates (depending on grade).
